Canadian Sikhs protest against ‘nude Sunny Leone’

A group of Canadian Sikhs have voiced their protest over reports of a crossover film inspired by the lives of two women of Indian origin like Canadian porn star and “adult super star” – as her official website describes her – Sunny Leone and Pamela Bordes. Sunny Leone shot to fame in India when she was invited to participate in the Bigg Boss 5 – a reality show on TV channel Colors. Before her stint on Bigg Boss 5 not many people in India had heard about Sunny Leone.

A few Sikhs from various parts of the world protested against a report which stated that the film will portray porn star Sunny Leone as a woman of Indian origin who was raised as a Sikh. They have clarified that Sunny Leone is not a Sikh  by birth and was never raised as a Sikh but instead is a Punjabi Hindu by birth. However, a spokesperson for the producer said that according to research that they have done, including inputs from Wikipedia, “Sunny Leone was raised as a Sikh and attended a Christian school.”

The big budget Canadian production stars a Mumbai-born Bollywood actress who has been signed on for the main lead. It was reported that the bollywood actress would pose in the nude for a certain scene in this film, though this could not be confirmed. The protesters threatened severe action against the Production House and the movie if “incorrect facts” were mentioned.

The report on the film states that the project is inspired by the life of Sunny Leone. Sunny Leone was born Karen Malhotra in Sarnia, Ontario on May 13, 1981. She is an Indo-Canadian pornographic actress, businesswoman and model. She was 2003 Penthouse Pet of the Year and has played roles in independent mainstream films and television shows. Veena Malik’s publicity stunt secret revealed by fashion designer Umair Zafar

Finally the cat is out of the bag on the Veena Malik nude photo controversy. Mumbai-based fashion designer and stylist Umair Zafar who has done several shoots with controversial photographer Vishal Saxena spilled the beans on the Veena Malik-FHM cover shoot controversy to journalist Flynn Remedios of MumbaiWire.in today.

Says Umair Zafar, “A few days before the FHM cover was out, photographer Vishal Saxena told me to be prepared for a big ‘dhamaka”. According to Umair Zafar, Saxena told him that the entire thing between Veena Malik and FHM magazine was pre-planned. “Veena Malik did the shoot topless with her hands covering the upper part of her body. She was wearing a bikini panty below, which was later on morphed and removed by photographer Vishal Saxena. All this was pre-decided and agreed upon by all concerned. In order to save face and the repurcussions that it could have both in Pakistan and in India – and yet avail of all the publicity – Veena Malik and FHM magazine had pre-decided that Veena Malik would send a defamation notice to the magazine and the magazine in turn would then send her a counter-notice. Yeah sab mili bhagat hein,” said Umair Zafar, adding that the entire episode had been meticulously planned by Veena Malik, her manager, photographer Vishal Saxena and FHM magazine representatives. “Even the defamation notice was prepared in advance, he said.

“I have done many shoots with Vishal Saxena and have styled clothes for Sayali Bhagat, Nisha Kothari, etc. Vishal specialises in nude shoots and has done several such shoots with Sherlyn Chopra, Priya Soni, etc., the photos of which are freely available on the internet. Vishal, Veena and FHM magazine have planned this entire publicity stunt to further Veena Malik’s prospects on the Reality Show on Imagine channel, Veena Malik ka Swayamvar,” said Umair, explaining that even top bosses at Imagine channel were aware of this entire publicity stunt.

Speaking to Flynn Remedios, Umair Zafar said that photographer Vishal Saxena had told him on Facebook chat that Veena Malik was even ready to shoot completely in the buff if it got her the required publicity. “Vishal told me, she wanted a big blast. A huge dhamaka that would catapult her to the top of the charts and make her a household name in India. She wants to be more popular than Kareena Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan put together. Bigg Boss last year gave her some mileage but she was not able to get much out of that show. She wanted the big bucks and was ever ready to do anything for it,” Umair said.

Photographer Vishal Saxena when contacted said that he only did as he was told by the editor of the magazine FHM. ‘I do not know anything about this matter or publicity stunt. I was told to do a shoot and was given reference photos for the same. All that I can say is that Veena Malik was very happy with the photos. I handed over the raw images (unedited images) to them immediately after the shoot was over. I can’t speak for the magazine. Please talk to Kabeer Sharma about all this. I cannot comment on anything,” was Vishal Saxena’s response. Editor of FHM, Kabeer Sharma was not reachable, inspite several attempts to contact him.

Opinion poll says Indian men prefer Poonam Jhawer to Veena Malik and Sunny Leone

 

An online opinion poll conducted by website mumbaiwire.in on Facebook has found that 60 per cent of Indian men between the age group of 25 to 40 found Indian actress and item girl Poonam Jhawer sexier, hotter and more desirable than Veena Malik and Sunny Leone put together.

Veena Malik is in the news as several organizations like the Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF) supported by several politicians cutting across party lines and actors including the CINTAA have strongly opposed her inclusion in the show Veena Malik ka Swayamvar. Canadian hardcore porn star of Indian descent Sunny Leone is currently a guest on the reality show Bigg Boss 5 on Colors channel.

According to Munish Arya one of the respondents, Poonam Jhawer is someone who is very Indian. “She is a desi girl and very natural. Her assets are natural, while Sunny Leone is plastic. The less said about Veena Malik the better,” he wrote in his comments.

Poonam Jhawer is the latest to support the IAAF. “There are so many drama queens, item girls, controversial models and the like in India. I do not understand why Imagine has to zero in only on Veena Malik. Shouldn’t Indian channels give priority to Indian women,” she asked. Ameesha Yadav: “I will undertake a nude SlutWalk March if Veena Ka Swayamvar goes on air”

South actress Ameesha Yadav has threatened to undertake a nude Slutwalk March or Besharmi Morcha in Mumbai if the Reality Show Veena Ka Swayamvar is aired by the general entertainment channel Imagine. Speaking to this reporter Ameesha Yadav – a member of the Indian Artistes and Actors Forum said, “Our forum has decided not to allow the telecast of the show. We have planned different methods of protest against the show. Some models and myself have decided to undertake a nude, silent Slutwalk March or Besharmi Morcha if the show is aired by Imagine.”

The Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF) had announced earlier that it will not allow the telecast of the Veena Malik ka Swayamvar Swayamvar Reality Show on General Entertainment Channel Imagine.

Flynn Remedios, publicist and spokesperson for the IAAF said that the IAAF – a representative body of actors and artistes is not against any one individual in particular. “We are against this trend of selecting foreign artistes for common roles in Indian television and films. Thousands of Indian girls go through hell trying to get a bit role in a TV serial or a film. These production houses and channels must understand the sentiments and feelings of thousands of Indian artistes and actors. Veena Malik is no great or unique actor or artiste. She is merely an item girl and starlet and is very much replaceable by so many Indian artistes. What is the USP that Veena Malik brings to the show, except for the fact that she is non-Indian. The channel is trying to stir up controversy and increase their own TRPs. We will teach them a lesson that they won’t forget. We will not damage their office or protest like some others have done. We will ask all patriotic Indians and Indian companies to stop watching or supporting Imagine and all other shows on the particular channel and this show in particular. This is our action plan for now. We will also approach the courts at a later date if the channel does not relent,” said Flynn Remedios, adding, “Right now we have over 200 members supporting this agitation from among artistes, junior artistes and actors all over India. Our forum is open to all actors and artistes including singers, dancers, junior artistes, etc from India. Each day we have more and more people coming forward in support of this cause.”

Ameesha Yadav did not specify in which city the nude, silent Slutwalk March will be held, but added that “they are considering various options. We will go ahead with our plan once the channel officially announces the dates of the show.”

The Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF) today announced that it strongly protests and condemns the selection of Pakistani starlet Veena Malik for the Swayamvar Reality Show on General Entertainment Channel Imagine. Joining this bandwagon is drama and controversy queen Rakhi Sawant (coincidently one of the first participants on the same show) who has lent her support to the Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF).

Says Rakhi Sawant, “They (the channel and the production house SOL) could have selected any other woman from India. There are so many controversial or bold and outspoken girls like Sambhavna Seth, Kashmira Shah, Dj Jenny D, Poonam Pandey to name a few. Imagine should have chosen them. There are thousands of girls in India who are trying to get roles in films and Tv. Why have they selected a “sattebaaz” who has ruined the name of her own country. Once was probably ok, but now they are doing it again and again. I strongly condemn this move and join the protest.”

Ten bollywood models will strip and pose nude with Dj Jenny D in support of the Fight the Casting Couch campaign launched by NGO Citizens Action Forum

The ten models with Dj Jenny D will go completely nude wrapped in only the tri colour and the Gandhi cap or topi on Saturday for a unique photo shoot. The location of this shoot and the names of these ten models has been kept top secret but a source informed us that they include some of the leading names in filmdom.  The models and actresses will tattoo the words “Me Anna Hazare” – words which have become a symbolic cult against any sort of injustice and

New comers and aspiring artistes are expected to sleep with directors and producers and even with financers etc to get even a second or third lead role. These days one has to sleep with channel heads or show producers to get into serials and reality shows. We have decided to raise our voice against this moral corruption and immoral acts openly prevalent in this industry.”

the Casting Couch in Bollywood.

Says DJ Jenny D, “Has anyone wondered why there are so many female singers and musicians, but hardly any female Music Directors in the film industry. The reason is simple – the Casting Couch. One can go on and on with similar examples. I myself have been a victim of this nasty phenomenon and have had to face humiliation in the past. I know a lot of girls who just give in because they have almost no other option. A lot of girls leave their homes and come to cities like Mumbai and Delhi in search of work in the film and fashion industry only to be first met by the wolves and jackals who ‘kill’ their will to survive.”

Dj Jenny D, herself a victim of the casting couch now inspired by Anna Hazare has decided to speak out against this malady which plagues the industry. The casting couch is so prominent in the film industry that most secretaries and managers are many a time reduced to being glorified pimps. We need to take a strong stand against this issue. The first thing a Bollywood secretary or manager asks you is “áre you ready to compromise”?

 

 

Mumbaiwalla !!! to file PIL in Bombay HC regarding CNG pipeline damage

Mumbaiwalla  !!! – a forum of concerned Mumbaikars is contemplating filing a PIL in the Bombay High Court seeking compensation for the untold hardship and financial losses to the citizens of Mumbai. Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the administrative machinery of Mumbai including the Government of Maharashtra and other authorities will be made respondents in the matter regarding the damage to the CNG pipeline which kept about 90,000 autorickshaws and about 80 per cent of Taxis off the roads of Mumbai causing untold hardship to students who were appearing for their board exams not to forget financial losses to several other businesses etc.

Mumbaiwalla !!! is a general helpline for Mumbaikars, particularly for those who are new to Mumbai and unable to find their way in the city. Mumbaiwalla !!! provides information services, co-ordinates with service providers, Utility and Telecom services, employment agencies, Facilities Management Servics and other general purpose service agencies. The aim is to try and make life a wee bit easier for Mumbaikars, says Flynn Remedios, a spokesperson for Mumbaiwalla !!!.

Mumbaiwalla !!!  also has a social service cell which undertakes activity to help the underprivileged, downtrodden and poor.

Hundreds if not thousands of software engineers from Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore and smaller towns recruited by Call Centres, BPOs and IT firms like Oracle, TCS, Mphasis and banks like Citibank and H3GS located at Mindspace (Malad), Infinity Park (Film City, Goregaon East), Bandra-Kurla complex who are completely new to Mumbai had to shell out anywhere between Rs 200 to Rs 400 to reach their homes as autorickshaws and Taxis charged a hefty premium.

According to a report in Mid-day, “The BMC does not have a map of the underground utilities such as water and gas pipelines, and drainage system due to which the incidences of pipeline damage are on the rise. On Monday, a Mahanagar Gas Limited pipeline was damaged while the BMC staffers were widening a nullah for the storm water drainage project, disrupting CNG supply.

An official from the BMC said, “The BMC had decided to carry out GIS-based digital mapping of the city’s structures (building by building) that sent the project cost shooting upto Rs 240 crore, while actual allocation for the project was Rs 32 crore. The idea of mapping water pipelines was scrapped last year as the cost was exceeding.”

At present, the civic body has an old water pipeline map sans newly developed areas. In January 2011, BMC finally invited tenders from private parties for carrying out digital surveys to map around 33 underground utilities in the city. Digital images of those will be compiled on the basis of information collected by the GIS surveys. Then, these images would be juxtaposed on the city’s base map.

“But we have not yet received the base maps from the NIC as well as clearance from the defense ministry for conducting the survey in sensitive areas in its jurisdiction, “said BMC’s Information Technology assistant commissioner Yogesh Mahangade. The BMC survey will mainly involve collecting information about civic-controlled utilities such as water, sewerage networks and storm water drain lines. But in the process, the other utilities under the ground too will get automatically recorded, another official said.”

According to a report in the Times of India, “The problem began late on Monday night as news spread of a tear in the main pipeline supplying CNG to Mumbai region. The breach had occurred earlier in the day when a piling machine being used by a civic contractor to concrete a drain hit the GAIL pipeline close to the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF) plant in Wadala.

Immediately after the accident, GAIL and Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) turned off the supply of CNG to the latter’s 148 filling stations and, as a result, to lakhs of autorickshaws, taxis and private cars. Officials promised supply would be normalized by Tuesday night.

Normally, MGL supplies about 9.8-lakh kg of CNG to the region every day. On Tuesday, only 3.5-lakh kg was delivered. Worst affected were western and central suburbs besides the island city.

The incident touched off the usual game of passing the buck between government agencies.”

TATA DOCOMO GSM SERVICES IN MUMBAI ARE ONE OF THE WORST TELECOM SERVICES IN MUMBAI

 

 

I paid Rs 5000/- for a premium or VIP Tata Docomo prepaid number belonging to the Mumbai Circle. In all, I purchased 3 such premium numbers paying a total of Rs 15,000/- only for the VIP numbers alone. In normal situations, I would have been assigned a relationship manager or a customer service executive to look into network or billing/balance related problems. Nothing of that sort happened.

Many dealers or retailers in the Andheri to Borivli area in suburban Mumbai DO NOT stock or are out of stock  of Tata Docomo recharges. After a long search, I located a dealer who had a Tata Docomo recharge. I recharged with a special recharge to convert all local calls to Rs 30 paise per minute. In spite of successfully recharging with the special pack, my local calls continue to be charged at Rs 1/- per minute.

I called the special helpline at Tata Docomo set up and mandated by TRAI and DOT (198) for complaints etc. Instead of being put on to a customer service executive, I was relayed only advertising messages for almost 20 minutes at a stretch. And then the line disconnected. I dialed 198 several times after that and every time I only got advertising messages for several minutes. No CS came on the line in spite of trying all options.

As compared to this retarded and lackadaisical response from Tata Docomo, Vodafone has assigned a special relationship manager to handle complaints. When I compare the service of Tata Docomo to Vodafone, I feel Vodafone is way ahead of Tata in terms of customer service.

After about one hour of continuous trying, I gave up, deciding never to use Tata Docomo again. I am putting this note up on my blog to inform other Telecom subscribers why I feel Tata Docomo is one of the worst Telecom services in Mumbai or should I say India.

Mumbai-based senior journalist and Bollywood Publicist Flynn Remedios was bereaved today 2nd March when his mother passed away after a massive heart attack at about 8.30pm. She was 70. After she complained of chest pain she was rushed to a private clinic at Andheri in suburban Mumbai for a medical checkup and ECG where she suffered a massive heart attack even while waiting for the checkup to be done.

The last rites and funeral services will be held on 3rd March at Holy Family Church in suburban Mumbai.
