Ten Bollywood models to strip nude to support Dj Jenny D’s anti Casting Couch campaign

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on August 25, 2011

Ten bollywood models will strip and pose nude with Dj Jenny D in support of the Fight the Casting Couch campaign launched by NGO Citizens Action Forum
(www.facebook.com/fight.the.casting.couch) and in support of the War Against Corruption in India.

The ten models with Dj Jenny D will go completely nude wrapped in only the tri colour and the Gandhi cap or topi on Saturday for a unique photo shoot. The location of this shoot and the names of these ten models has been kept top secret but a source informed us that they include some of the leading names in filmdom.  The models and actresses will tattoo the words “Me Anna Hazare” – words which have become a symbolic cult against any sort of injustice and
oppression in India – on their bare bodies.

According to Dj Jenny D, “Inspired by Anna Hazare’s peaceful yet effective fight about 100 plus models, actors, artistes, singers and musicians have come forward and we have launched this campaign against the Casting Couch which has become very rampant in Bollywood and even in the television industry. New comers and aspiring artistes are expected to sleep with directors and producers and even with financers etc to get even a second or third lead role. These days one has to sleep with channel heads or show producers to get into serials and reality shows. We have decided to raise our voice against this moral corruption and immoral acts openly prevalent in this industry.”

Dj Jenny D, known for her hard-hitting and bold visual print campaigns particularly that of a nude photograph with a tri-colour fabric wrapped around her, has within a week fired her second salvo – a campaign protesting
the Casting Couch in Bollywood.

Talented female actors, musicians, artistes, etc do not get a chance to work in the film industry because of the Casting Couch. This campaign envisaged by DJ JENNY D (www.facebook.com/dj.jen.d) appeals particularly to female artistes, singers, musicians and junior artistes to come out in support of the campaign by commenting on the Facebook page at
www.facebook.com/fight.the.casting.couch
.
Says DJ Jenny D, “Has anyone wondered why there are so many female singers and musicians, but hardly any female Music Directors in the film industry. The reason is simple – the Casting Couch. One can go on and on with similar examples. I myself have been a victim of this nasty phenomenon and have had to face humiliation in the past. I know a lot of girls who just give in because they have almost no other option. A lot of girls leave their homes and come to cities like Mumbai and Delhi in search of work in the film and fashion industry only to be first met by the wolves and jackals who ‘kill’ their will to survive.”

Dj Jenny D, herself a victim of the casting couch now inspired by Anna Hazare has decided to speak out against this malady which plagues the industry. The casting couch is so prominent in the film industry that most secretaries and managers are many a time reduced to being glorified pimps. We need to take a strong stand against this issue. The first thing a Bollywood secretary or manager asks you is “áre you ready to compromise”?

CELEBRITY DJ JENNY D POSES NUDE FOR AARAKSHAN FOR WOMEN CAMPAIGN

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on August 13, 2011

Goa-born, Mumbai-based celebrity DJ and actress DJ Jenny D has posed in the nude for a hard-hitting campaign supporting reservation or aarakshan for women promoted by an NGO Citizens Action Forum.

The Mumbai-based NGO Citizens Action Forum has launched an awareness campaign on the occasion of Independence Day titled Are Women in India really Independent? A special poster and print shoot was part of the campaign which was shot by Bollywood and fashion photographer Vickky Idnaani. The campaign focuses on creating more jobs for women in areas like judiciary, local-self government and allied areas.

Says DJ Jenny D, “We demand more jobs for women particularly in villages and
smaller towns. Jobs for women in important positions of government, judiciary, police, local self government and financial institutions will reduce corruption in India and crimes against women will come down drastically. Women should have the freedom to choose their partner, choose the job or profession they want to or feel inclined to and even choose their dress code or the outfits they want to wear. Women should be at par with men not just in the cities but also in the smallest and remotest villages and small towns of India. On Independence Day after 64 years of independence, women are still raped every day in India. Teenage girls are forced into marriages that they are against and not in favour of.”

When asked about the nude shoot, DJ Jenny D said, “The photograph is very artistically shot and is very aesthetic and glamorous. It is not vulgar at all. Whether I am nude or not, is for the viewer to decide.”

The campaign has been shot by fashion and Bollywood photographer Vickky Idnaani, the outfits arranged by Mrunal Yangad, Makeup and hair by Subhash
Shinde, Vidya and Albert Chettiar.

This campaign is supported and promoted by Citizens Action Forum. A spokesperson for Citizens Action Forum said, “We wanted a very strong message. Every day women are ill-treated in India both at home and at the work place. Through this provocative campaign we want to send out a strong message that women need reservation and support in all walks of life particularly in the judiciary, police, municipality, local self government, etc.”
