Canadian Sikhs protest against ‘nude Sunny Leone’

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on January 2, 2012

A group of Canadian Sikhs have voiced their protest over reports of a crossover film inspired by the lives of two women of Indian origin like Canadian porn star and “adult super star” – as her official website describes her – Sunny Leone and Pamela Bordes. Sunny Leone shot to fame in India when she was invited to participate in the Bigg Boss 5 – a reality show on TV channel Colors. Before her stint on Bigg Boss 5 not many people in India had heard about Sunny Leone.

A few Sikhs from various parts of the world protested against a report which stated that the film will portray porn star Sunny Leone as a woman of Indian origin who was raised as a Sikh. They have clarified that Sunny Leone is not a Sikh  by birth and was never raised as a Sikh but instead is a Punjabi Hindu by birth. However, a spokesperson for the producer said that according to research that they have done, including inputs from Wikipedia, “Sunny Leone was raised as a Sikh and attended a Christian school.”

The big budget Canadian production stars a Mumbai-born Bollywood actress who has been signed on for the main lead. It was reported that the bollywood actress would pose in the nude for a certain scene in this film, though this could not be confirmed. The protesters threatened severe action against the Production House and the movie if “incorrect facts” were mentioned.

The report on the film states that the project is inspired by the life of Sunny Leone. Sunny Leone was born Karen Malhotra in Sarnia, Ontario on May 13, 1981. She is an Indo-Canadian pornographic actress, businesswoman and model. She was 2003 Penthouse Pet of the Year and has played roles in independent mainstream films and television shows. She now also holds an American citizenship though she has retained her original Canadian passport as well.

Leone was born to Punjabi parents who migrated from India to Canada. Her father was born in Tibet and raised in Delhi, while her mother was from a small town named Nahan in Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. As a young girl, she was very athletic and played street hockey with the boys, enjoyed ice skating on a nearby frozen lake and drinking hot chocolate in front of a fire after playing in the snow all day.

Apparently Mohit Suri approached Sunny Leone to play the main lead in his film Kalyug, but signed on Deepal Shaw instead as he couldn’t afford her $1 million fee. Several Bollywood directors and producers have had discussions with Leone and have wanted to cast her in their productions, but apparently money has always been a bone of contention. Sunny Leone is herself very keen on doing mainline Bollywood, but no big Bollywood hero would like to be cast opposite a hardcore porn star. Personally Sunny Leone considers Aamir Khan to be her favourite Bollywood actor. Sunny Leone’s initial days in the porn industry will feature prominently in the film – which as the film’s publicist claims will ‘not have any pornography’ in the film.

WHO IS SUNNY LEONE?

We have got hundreds of emails from our readers asking us for ‘more details about Sunny Leone’? Well here is some of the information we could get on Sunny Leone from the internet including Wikipedia:

Sunny Leone was born Karen Malhotra on May 13, 1981 and is an Indo-Canadian pornographic actress, actress, businesswoman and model. She was named Penthouse Pet of the Year in 2003 and was a contract star for Vivid Entertainment. Named by Maxim as one of the 12 top porn stars in 2010, she has also played roles in independent mainstream films and television shows.

Early life

Leone was born Karen Malhotra in Sarnia, Ontario to Sikh Punjabi parents from India. Her father was born in Tibet and raised in Delhi, while her mother (who died in 2008) was from a small town named Nahan in Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. As a young girl, she was very athletic and played street hockey with the boys, enjoyed ice skating on a nearby frozen lake and drinking hot chocolate in front of a fire after playing in the snow all day.

Though she was raised as a Sikh, her parents enrolled her in a Catholic school, as it was felt to be unsafe for her to go to public school. There she had her first kiss at 11, lost her virginity to a basketball player at another school at 16, and discovered that she was bisexual at 18. When she was 13, her family moved to Fort Gratiot, Michigan, then to Lake Forest, California a year later, fulfilling her grandparents’ dream that the family be together in one place. She graduated from high school in 1999 and enrolled in college.

Career

Before working in the porn industry, she first worked at a German bakery, a Jiffy Lube, and later a tax and retirement firm.

While studying to be a pediatric nurse in Orange County, a classmate who was an exotic dancer introduced Leone to John Stevens, an agent who in turn introduced her to Jay Allen, a photographer for Penthouse magazine. When picking a name for her adult career, she has said that Sunny is her real name and Leone was picked by Bob Guccione, former owner of Penthouse magazine. She posed for Penthouse magazine, and was named Penthouse Pet of the Month for the March 2001 issue, followed by a feature in the Holiday 2001 edition of Hustler magazine as a Hustler Honey. She has appeared in other magazines including Cheri, Mystique Magazine, High Society, Swank, AVN Online, Leg World, Club International and Lowrider, while her online credits include ModFX Models, Suze Randall, Ken Marcus and Mac & Bumble. Her pictorial credits also include working with stars like Adriana Sage, Jenna Jameson, Jelena Jensen and Aria Giovanni.

In 2003, she was declared the Penthouse Pet of the Year and also starred in the video Penthouse Pets in Paradise alongside Tera Patrick and Kyla Cole. In 2005 Adam & Eve appointed her as their West Coast Internet Sales Representative.

That same year, Leone signed a three-year contract with Vivid Entertainment with which she transitioned into the world of hardcore pornography, stating that she would only do lesbian scenes. Her first movie released was titled Sunny and was released in December 2005. Her next movie, Virtual Vivid Girl Sunny Leone, was the first interactive title for Leone, who was the first Vivid Girl to make such a movie. Taking only four days to film, the movie won her her first AVN Award (Best Interactive DVD). She followed this with Sunny Loves Cher, which featured her first on-screen squirting, and The Female Gardner co-starring Mikayla Mendez and Daisy Marie.

Leone’s last two movies under her contract with Vivid were It’s Sunny in Brazil, which was filmed in Brazil and The Sunny Experiment also starring Monique Alexander and Brea Lynn. The movies were released in October and December 2007 respectively.

In May 2007, upon re-signing her contract with Vivid for another six films, Leone agreed to perform for the first time with men on camera, but exclusively with her fiancé, Matt Erikson. That summer she also received breast augmentation, and shot her first movie under the new contract titled Sunny Loves Matt. The movie led to her to be nominated for three (out of six) AVN awards in 2009 in addition to being a choice for Female Performer of the Year. She followed up her first boy-girl title with The Other Side of Sunny in October 2008, which would be the last time she would perform with Erikson.

In January 2008, Leone revealed that she was no longer exclusive to Erikson, and had done scenes with other actors, most notably Tommy Gunn, Charles Dera, James Deen and Voodoo. In August of that same year, she announced the launch of her own studio, Sunlust Pictures, with Daniel Weber as her partner. With her new venture Leone plans to write, direct and create her own brand of adult movies with Vivid Entertainment as her distributor. Her first independent production, The Dark Side of the Sun, was released in March 2009, and was debuted at the Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas. In June 2009, she held a casting call in Las Vegas for her second independent production titled Sunny Slumber Party (released September 2009).

No longer exclusive to Vivid, Leone has started working with other studios and performers since 2009. She has managed to leverage her online popularity by striking deals with firms like PPPcard, AdultPokerParty.com,  Brickhouse,  Flirt4Free, Totemcash and Imlive to sell and distribute her content over the internet and other media. She won the “Web Babe of the Year” at the 2008 Xbiz Awards. Her websites and business interests are run under her banner company Leone L.L.C.

In addition to her film career, Leone has been part of the Vivid Comedy Tour, and has modelled for the Vivid Footwear collection.Leone has also participated in events like the Vivid/ClubJenna Lingerie Bowl and Vivid’s Hot Rod Night.Doc Johnson launched a pocket pal in 2006 moulded to her vagina, and in 2008 released the Sunny Leone Exciter vibrator. Control MFG currently uses Leone’s image along with other Vivid girls to market their line of skateboards. She is paired with Gab Ekoe, one of the Team Control riders. She also indicated that she plans to launch her own line of lingerie and other Sunny-branded products including a diamond jewellery line.

In September 2009, an iPhone application consisting of a collection of non-nude photos, some videos and a porn star-penned blog was approved by Apple for sale in the iTunes store, making it the first officially sanctioned application featuring a porn star. By February 2010, the app had been removed by Apple from the store.

Leone was voted #13 (up from #41 in 2007 on Genesis magazine’s “Top 100 Porn stars” list, #34 on Desiclubs.com’s Top 50 Coolest Desis of 2004, and one of the “40 under 40” ranking on AVN Online magazine. In 2010, she was named by Maxim as one of the 12 top female stars in porn.

Mainstream appearances

Leone’s first mainstream appearance was in 2005, when she was a red carpet reporter for the MTV Awards on MTV India. She has also had a cameo in the film The Girl Next Door, performed in Ja Rule’s video “Livin It Up” and a video for Kidd Skilly. Other credits include E!’s “Wild On!” and the Sundance Film Festival’s ‘After Dark. Leone was a contestant in the second season of the Fox reality show My Bare Lady 2: Open For Business, in which a group of adult actresses were given classes and training on how to pitch investment ideas and competed for success in the business world. In addition to filming her scene for Debbie Does Dallas in 2007, Leone was also part of a Showtime documentary of the same name detailing the production of the movie and the personal lives of its stars.

She has indicated that for the right price she would seriously consider a career in Bollywood. She has been courted by Indian directors in the past but has felt uncomfortable with the roles that she would have played.Director Mohit Suri is rumored to have asked Leone to play the lead role in his movie Kalyug, but instead cast Deepal Shaw as he could not afford her $1 million acting fee. She has mentioned that Aamir Khan is her favorite Bollywood Actor, and that over 60% of her fans are from South Asia.

In 2008, Leone announced that she would be starring in a mainstream action adventure movie titled Pirates Blood, which was shot in Oman. The shooting was completed in two weeks and was to be released in winter 2008.Leone also landed a role in Middle Men, producer Chris Mallick’s indie feature about the birth of the online porn industry set for wide theatrical release in 2009. She has mentioned that she will be appearing in an upcoming Will Ferrell movie scheduled to be released in 2010.

She appeared in the film The Virginity Hit playing a version of herself, where she is hired to take the virginity of the lead character.

Leone has made appearances at events such as the 2002 SEMA International Auto Salon, the 2002 Extreme Autofest Pomona and the 2006 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Sunny has also been the hostess at events in clubs like the Mansion in Miami and the Highlands in Hollywood.

In 2005, she was mentioned in Forbes magazine for a story on Vivid Entertainment. Leone has also been featured in mainstream publications like FHM, Front and Jane magazine. In 2007, along with the other Vivid Girls, she was seen in a 48′ high holiday Billboard in Times Square at W. 48th Street and Seventh Avenue. Leone is also one of the Penthouse Pets who appears in the PlayStation Portable game Pocket Pool. She was also featured in a coffee table book titled Naked Ambition: An R Rated Look at an X Rated Industry by Micheal Grecco.

In 2004, she was part of “No More Bush Girls”, in which she and several other popular adult actresses shaved off their pubic hair in protest of the Bush presidency. In May 2008, she shot a promotional video for Declare Yourself, a nonprofit, nonpartisan voter registration campaign targeting 18-to-29-year-olds.[79] She indicated that Barack Obama would be her choice in the 2008 U.S. election, primarily because she felt he was more business friendly to the adult industry than his opponent John McCain. She also released a public service announcement on behalf of the ASACP, reminding adult webmasters to protect their sites from children by having an RTA label on it.

Leone has a strong interest in health and fitness, and has been featured in several mainstream fitness publications. Leone has modelled fitness clothing for the sports brand Fantasy Fitness and shared that she keeps her body in shape by working out as much as she can despite her busy schedule and as quoted in Men’s Fitness magazine, “I try to eat very healthy – lots of vegetables, drinking my milk every day.”

In 2011, she participated in the Indian reality series Bigg Boss, entering the house on day 49. However she refused to divulge her ‘porn star’ status and replied to a poser from actress, and fellow house-mate, Pooja Bedi that she was a model and a TV star in America for the last ten years or so. It was reported that she has caused a stir in the larger populace with her Twitter feed gaining 8,000 new followers in just 2 days and Google saying searches for her experienced a “breakout”. There have also been complaints lodged with the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting alleging that the Colors TV channel is promoting pornography by having Leone appear on the show; among those who have filed are the Indian Artistes and Actors Forum and Anurag Thakur, member of Lok Sabha and head of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing.

During her stay in the Bigg Boss house, Leone was approached by Mahesh Bhatt who entered the house briefly to offer her the lead role in Jism 2 (the seqeal to the 2003 film Jism). She accepted it, which will result in Pooja Bhatt’s production house, Fish Eye Network and Leone’s agent discussing the movie further. Sunny Leone disappointed her male fans by getting ‘married’ in the Bigg Boss house as part of a wedding challenge.

Personal life

In June 2006, Leone became an American citizen, but plans to remain a dual citizen of Canada. Although bisexual, she has stated that she prefers men. In her spare time she enjoys abstract paintings, horse riding, reading, playing World of Warcraft, watching The Simpsons and the Discovery Channel. She used to play on a women’s soccer league team in California. Her favourite holiday destination is Hawaii, and her favourite cuisine is Italian.

In separate interviews, she has stated that in ten years’ time she would like to be married and have started a family, and probably retire from the industry by the time she is 30. Leone was engaged to Matt Erikson, a vice-president of marketing at Playboy Enterprises. She currently resides in Hollywood, California with her cat and drives an Audi A5.

She mentioned in an interview at the start of 2011 that she was married to Daniel Weber. During her stay in the Bigg Boss house later that same year, Leone indicated that the relationship had by revealing that she had been previously married; she had ‘purposely arrived late’ to their first date as she was not impressed with him, but he changed her mind by sending 24 roses to her hotel room.

In 2010, Leone’s father died of cancer, which he had been first diagnosed with in 1999. In 2011, Leone along with Monique Alexander and Keni Styles ran in the Rock n’ Roll Los Angeles Half-Marathon to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

A 2008 Eye Weekly article reported that “Leone does her best to maintain a link to Sikh traditions, even if more in theory than in practice. But she’s unlikely to disavow her career path due to religion.” and that Leone said “Girls will leave the industry claiming that they found God. Well, the fact is, God has always been with them the entire time.” In a 2010 interview, she said “It’s a community-based religion. You walk into a temple and you’re greeted with the utmost respect… But, just like any religion it doesn’t want you to shoot adult material. I mean, I grew up going to temple every Sunday. When my parents found out they knew my personality which was very independent. Even if they tried to stop me or tried to steer me the right way they would have lost their daughter. I’m too headstrong. And it wasn’t a plan. It just happened and my career and everything just kept getting bigger and bigger.”

Here are some of Sunny Leone’s photos from the internet:

Dj Jenny D sued for women’s reservation campaign photo

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on October 20, 2011

Disc Jockey and Reality Show artiste Dj Jenny D, a daily newspaper published in Mumbai (DNA) and three others have been sued by Ramesh Upadhyay, a retired army major  and currently an accused and under trial in the Malegaon blast trial. According to a report:  Ramesh Upadhyay has sued a national newspaper for publishing a semi-nude photo of an international model whose private parts were hidden with a saree featuring the Indian tricolour. Upadhyay, after seeing the photo and related article published in the entertainment supplement of the newspaper filed a case with the Panvel Judicial Magistrate First Class.

Upadhyay alleged that such kind of pictures have hurt the sentiments of many and is an act of insult to the national flag. However, speaking exclusively to us, Dj Jenny D said, “I have already clarified that I was not nude. I have not used the national flag in my photo shoot. It is just a piece of designer cloth which happen to have colors similar to the national flag. All over the world people wear the colors of their respective national flags on their clothing. This shoot was done for a social cause. The theme was reservation or Aarakshan for women. We wanted to send out a strong message to the people. Women need more jobs in government services like the police, judiciary, local-self government, etc. No private parts or any such ‘private’ aspect of my body was showing. Even in films actors are seen with the national flag painted on their bodies. During the anti corruption drive by Anna Hazare, thousands of flags were torn or damaged. At that time, people used the flag as fans to dust off flies, etc. The photographs were published in at least 5 newspapers and many TV channels and websites also carried it. No government department took cognizance of this. This retired major who is himself an allegedly accused terrorist is talking about obscenity. This is ridiculous. I have full faith in the law and justice system in our country and I know that justice will prevail.”

As per Section 200 of the CrPC, Upadhyay has filed a lawsuit against the company that runs the newspaper, an employee of the newspaper responsible for the selection of the photo, Mumbai-based DJ and reality show artist Jenny D and a photographer.

The lawsuit was ordered to be registered as a complaint with Kharghar Police Station as per section 156 (3) of the CrPC. The magistrate passed the order on September 29, and the Kharghar police registered the case on October 10. The court has asked the police to submit their report by November 8.

DJ Jenny D: Moral Police Action against youth at Malad Lounge was uncalled for.

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on July 5, 2011

DJ Jenny D – one of Mumbai’s very few talented female DJs who was co-incidentally playing as a guest DJ at ORO’s Lounge and Kitchen at Malad when it was raided by the moral police on Saturday – has strongly condemned the police action.  DJ Jenny D was among the 71 youngsters rounded up by the police and was fined Rs 1200 for alleged “indecent or dirty dancing” as the cops termed it.

The moral police played spoil sport at DJ Jenny D’s Bollywood Nites at Malad in suburban Mumbai.  According to a front page report in the Times of India, the police just barged in and rounded by about 71 youngsters most of whom were only having dinner after their late shifts at the neighbouring Mindspace – the Call Centre and BPO hub of Mumbai.

DJ Jenny D was scheduled to perform and play some of her best Bollywood and Hip Hop re mixes on Sunday night but due to the police raid on Saturday night at the ORO Lounge and Kitchen, the event was called off. The aggrieved youth who call themselves the “Victims of the police action” have started a Facebook page condemning the harsh action at http://www.facebook.com/stop.moral.police. They have appealed to youth from across the country to “Like” this FaceBook page in support of their cause.

Says DJ Jenny D, “Apparently the club’s DJ license had expired. All the other licenses were in place except for the DJ license.” There were some senior executives from the IT industry as well as two senior journalists who did not even have drinks and yet they were fined by the police, she explained.

While the DJ License is a law and order issue between the club and the police I do not wish to comment on it, the police also rounded up some of my friends who had not even had drinks, forget about any “indecent dancing”. There was no loud or vulgar music, there was no indecent behaviour. Maybe one or two couples were holding hands, but that was all. Most of the crowd was Call Centre employees from the neighbouring ‘Mindspace’ area that employs over One Lakh IT and BPO professionals and is the Outsourcing Hub in Mumbai and an international landmark.

The youth had come to have dinner and maybe a drink after their late shift as it was also a Saturday and also payday. “The police should not have been high-handed and trigger-happy with the youth who should have been let off with a warning. Herding them to the police station at 1 am and detaining them till almost 7 am was definitely uncalled for,” she said.

Mumbaiwalla !!! to file PIL in Bombay HC regarding CNG pipeline damage

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on March 16, 2011

By a Correspondent

Mumbaiwalla  !!! – a forum of concerned Mumbaikars is contemplating filing a PIL in the Bombay High Court seeking compensation for the untold hardship and financial losses to the citizens of Mumbai. Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the administrative machinery of Mumbai including the Government of Maharashtra and other authorities will be made respondents in the matter regarding the damage to the CNG pipeline which kept about 90,000 autorickshaws and about 80 per cent of Taxis off the roads of Mumbai causing untold hardship to students who were appearing for their board exams not to forget financial losses to several other businesses etc.

Mumbaiwalla !!! is a general helpline for Mumbaikars, particularly for those who are new to Mumbai and unable to find their way in the city. Mumbaiwalla !!! provides information services, co-ordinates with service providers, Utility and Telecom services, employment agencies, Facilities Management Servics and other general purpose service agencies. The aim is to try and make life a wee bit easier for Mumbaikars, says Flynn Remedios, a spokesperson for Mumbaiwalla !!!.

Mumbaiwalla !!!  also has a social service cell which undertakes activity to help the underprivileged, downtrodden and poor.

Hundreds if not thousands of software engineers from Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore and smaller towns recruited by Call Centres, BPOs and IT firms like Oracle, TCS, Mphasis and banks like Citibank and H3GS located at Mindspace (Malad), Infinity Park (Film City, Goregaon East), Bandra-Kurla complex who are completely new to Mumbai had to shell out anywhere between Rs 200 to Rs 400 to reach their homes as autorickshaws and Taxis charged a hefty premium.

According to a report in Mid-day, “The BMC does not have a map of the underground utilities such as water and gas pipelines, and drainage system due to which the incidences of pipeline damage are on the rise. On Monday, a Mahanagar Gas Limited pipeline was damaged while the BMC staffers were widening a nullah for the storm water drainage project, disrupting CNG supply.

An official from the BMC said, “The BMC had decided to carry out GIS-based digital mapping of the city’s structures (building by building) that sent the project cost shooting upto Rs 240 crore, while actual allocation for the project was Rs 32 crore. The idea of mapping water pipelines was scrapped last year as the cost was exceeding.”

At present, the civic body has an old water pipeline map sans newly developed areas. In January 2011, BMC finally invited tenders from private parties for carrying out digital surveys to map around 33 underground utilities in the city. Digital images of those will be compiled on the basis of information collected by the GIS surveys. Then, these images would be juxtaposed on the city’s base map.

“But we have not yet received the base maps from the NIC as well as clearance from the defense ministry for conducting the survey in sensitive areas in its jurisdiction, “said BMC’s Information Technology assistant commissioner Yogesh Mahangade. The BMC survey will mainly involve collecting information about civic-controlled utilities such as water, sewerage networks and storm water drain lines. But in the process, the other utilities under the ground too will get automatically recorded, another official said.”

According to a report in the Times of India, “The problem began late on Monday night as news spread of a tear in the main pipeline supplying CNG to Mumbai region. The breach had occurred earlier in the day when a piling machine being used by a civic contractor to concrete a drain hit the GAIL pipeline close to the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF) plant in Wadala.

Immediately after the accident, GAIL and Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) turned off the supply of CNG to the latter’s 148 filling stations and, as a result, to lakhs of autorickshaws, taxis and private cars. Officials promised supply would be normalized by Tuesday night.

Normally, MGL supplies about 9.8-lakh kg of CNG to the region every day. On Tuesday, only 3.5-lakh kg was delivered. Worst affected were western and central suburbs besides the island city.

The incident touched off the usual game of passing the buck between government agencies.”

TATA DOCOMO GSM SERVICES IN MUMBAI ARE ONE OF THE WORST TELECOM SERVICES IN MUMBAI

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on March 12, 2011

I paid Rs 5000/- for a premium or VIP Tata Docomo prepaid number belonging to the Mumbai Circle. In all, I purchased 3 such premium numbers paying a total of Rs 15,000/- only for the VIP numbers alone. In normal situations, I would have been assigned a relationship manager or a customer service executive to look into network or billing/balance related problems. Nothing of that sort happened.

Many dealers or retailers in the Andheri to Borivli area in suburban Mumbai DO NOT stock or are out of stock  of Tata Docomo recharges. After a long search, I located a dealer who had a Tata Docomo recharge. I recharged with a special recharge to convert all local calls to Rs 30 paise per minute. In spite of successfully recharging with the special pack, my local calls continue to be charged at Rs 1/- per minute.

I called the special helpline at Tata Docomo set up and mandated by TRAI and DOT (198) for complaints etc. Instead of being put on to a customer service executive, I was relayed only advertising messages for almost 20 minutes at a stretch. And then the line disconnected. I dialed 198 several times after that and every time I only got advertising messages for several minutes. No CS came on the line in spite of trying all options.

As compared to this retarded and lackadaisical response from Tata Docomo, Vodafone has assigned a special relationship manager to handle complaints. When I compare the service of Tata Docomo to Vodafone, I feel Vodafone is way ahead of Tata in terms of customer service.

After about one hour of continuous trying, I gave up, deciding never to use Tata Docomo again. I am putting this note up on my blog to inform other Telecom subscribers why I feel Tata Docomo is one of the worst Telecom services in Mumbai or should I say India.

“IT’S NOT CRICKET” AND “WINNERS AND LOSERS” – REALITY SHOWS FOR THE COMMON MAN

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on February 23, 2011

“IT’S NOT CRICKET” AND “WINNERS AND LOSERS” – REALITY SHOWS FOR THE COMMON MAN

Mumbai-based Twilight Media has announced two new Reality Shows tentatively titled “It’s Not Cricket” and “Winners and Losers. While much information was not available and Twilight Media refused to officially comment on these projects, it seems that the shows are targeted at the common man. When we contacted Twilight Media, a spokesperson said that the concept and format of the shows is being finalised and the shows are likely to be officially announced very soon. “We will make an official announcement very soon, so please wait till the press release is out,” was the only official comment we got from them. The shows will be in English and Hindi.

However, a source said that the shows are targeted at the common man. “Most reality shows in India, including Bigg Boss, Zor Ka Jhatka, Rakhi ka Swayamvar, Khatron Ka Khiladi, etc have featured a similar set of artistes or actors or participants and research shows that most people in India are fed up of watching the same set of characters on the different shows. For the last three years, the same set of 10-15 participants have been doing the rounds of most reality shows. The common man is rarely involved or invited to participate. Since most reality shows are big budget productions, the production houses producing them are under great pressure to generate TRPs and hence resort to using the same ‘old characters’ over and over again.

“Winners & Losers” and “It’s Just Not Cricket” will feature a completely new set of participants, barring a few, according to a source. The casting agency appointed for the recruitment of participants has begun sending out casting calls for these shows and the target is the common man, housewives, students and of course Bollywood models, celebs and actors. Politicians will not be part of the shows, but advocates and doctors are likely to be on board. It is not clear as to who would host these shows and Twilight Media said they were looking for the right person. The shows will be centred around the Indian infatuation for the sport of cricket, it is learnt.

Expect a lot of masala and masti though, they said!!!

Pepsi launches ‘CHANGE THE GAME’ campaign

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on January 26, 2011

This Cricket World Cup,
Pepsi becomes the official sponsor of…

The Doosra | The Switch Hit | The Helicopter |
The Dilscoop | The Upper CutLaunches ‘CHANGE THE GAME’ campaign to celebrate the revolutionary new face of cricket and the youth…

New Delhi, January 13, 2011: Cricket has changed, cricket fans have changed and the way they watch cricket has changed… This ICC Cricket World Cup, Pepsi celebrates the new unorthodox yet immensely popular face of modern cricket with its high decibel and path-breaking campaign – ‘CHANGE THE GAME’. Through the metaphor of cricket it also salutes the Youngistaanis who within themselves have found the power to defy tradition, and pave their own way by not breaking the rules but by changing them.

Change the Game is not a notion but reality that is reflected in the way cricket is played, watched and enjoyed world-over and in India today. With this innovative campaign, Pepsi has become the official sponsor of everything that is unorthodox about the sport; whether it is Virender Sehwag’s Upper Cut, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Helicopter shot, Harbhajan Singh’s Doosra, Tillakaratne Dilshan’s Dilscoop, Kevin Pietersen’s Switch Hit or Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina’s aggressive on-field spirit.

Deepika Warrier, Marketing Director, PepsiCo Beverages, India said, “Pepsi has always been closely associated with youth platforms such as cricket; and ICC Cricket World Cup is the single biggest event that unifies millions of passionate Youngistaanis. Our Change the Game campaign celebrates the same passion and the new age mantra of cricket, which is irreverent, unorthodox, fun, challenging and unmistakably Pepsi”.

“PepsiCo is one of the global sponsors of the ICC Cricket World Cup and we have created an exciting, engaging and innovative package for brand Pepsi to leverage this mega event. We are confident that the unique campaign thought of Change the Game will appeal to the youth and inspire them to be the game changers in their own lives”, she added.

Featuring some of the cricketing world’s biggest superstars, the campaign includes a series of ad films that will showcase out-of-the-box moves that are not text-book and yet help achieve the ultimate goal. Irreverent and youthful in spirit, these films promise to bring alive the passion Youngistaanis share for the game, both on and off the field. The first film as part of the campaign revolves around Indian team skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s famous game changing move – the Helicopter Shot.

“Change the Game is a big idea in the context of the game of cricket.  With this campaign we will inspire the youth to ‘change the game’, be innovative, take risks, and do things differently even if it has not been done before. We are the official sponsors of the ICC World Cup, but with this campaign we also want to be the official sponsors of everything that is unorthodox, exciting, innovative about the game of cricket”, said, Sandeep Singh Arora, Executive Vice President – Marketing, Cola, PepsiCo India.

Speaking about ‘Change the Game’, Indian Cricket Team Captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni said, “Change the Game for me is not about what you achieve, but how you achieve it. It is about the confidence to take risks and the courage to take the road less traveled.  On field, it is about playing innovative shots or making game changing decisions at critical junctures of the play. Pepsi’s Change the Game campaign captures this thought in an exciting and innovative manner and I am sure Youngistaanis will strongly identify with it”.

Supporting the on-air initiatives is the eye-catching off-air campaign with cricketers in a never-seen-before painted body look. The new body painted look is youthful, fresh and symbolic of the individual player’s passion for the game. Covered only with a layer of colourful body paint, the cricketers’ images reflect their energetic and unique persona on the field. Each design and choice of colour palette has a story behind it which mirrors the athlete’s character.

“Pepsi has always been the fearless voice of uninhibited youth. A belief that needed to be interpreted even as the official partner of the event. Only Pepsi could turn this official status on its head by standing up for the brave new, unorthodox face of the modern game. The unplugged, organic face of contemporary cricket that is a reflective of everything that the youth of today live by. That it’s not the textbook that matters but the result at the end of the day. Because the game can always change”, commented, Agnello Dias, Creative Director, Taproot India.

Director of the TVCs, Prasoon Pandey of Corcoise Films said, “Change The Game is a powerful concept and we have tried to bring alive the same passion and excitement in the films as we would see during the World Cup. The idea was to communicate Pepsi’s celebration of cricketers’ innovative signature moves on the field in a never-seen-before manner. For instance, the first film presents an irreverent back story about Dhoni’s famous Helicopter shot to the thrill of him actually using it during the match.”

The campaign is being launched across various mediums and channels to ensure complete 3D activation across all verticals. It will be supported by a 360-degree approach including thematic ATL and outdoor, consumer engagement programmes, special edition packaging, in-stadia amplification and digital engagement programmes.

Pakistani actress Veena Malik nude in porn flick?? Hardcore Veena Malik sex video hits the net?

Posted by Editor - BMC Elections 2012 on December 16, 2010

EXCLUSIVE

Actress had featured in soft porn movies according to information

published earlier in Pakistan

It is learnt that Pakistani actress and model Veena Malik had posed nude in the past on more than one occasion. The first appearance of her nude photographs was in 2001, but Veena Malik had brushed off the images as though they were flies on a pancake. “I have not posed for those photographs, and I am not bothered by them,” she has confidently claimed at that time. A Pakistani sleaze magazine also mentioned that Veena Malik has acted in several soft porn movies at times either semi nude or completely nude. By then Veena Malik was so used to such allegations of nude or porn movies, that she stopped replying to such accusations. The media too began to ignore her some of them felt that Veena Malik was herself behind all the photographs and videos ostensibly to keep herself in the news and on the front pages of publications.

Another Pakistani website claimed that Veena Malik has acted in hardcore porn movies in the West. After Veena Malik made it into Bigg Boss, Season 4 on Colors, hosted by Salman Khan, media both in India and Pakistan began taking interest in her all over again. Meanwhile a hardcore sex porn video is in circulation, claiming that the video was shot by Veena Malik and a Dutch male porn star in 2010 just before she entered Bigg Boss and that Veena Malik was paid the equivalent of Rs 30 lakh for a half day hardcore sex shoot. We are not sure if this information is true, but apparently a 29-year-old male Dutch porn star has gone on record that he shot explicity sex scenes including those of penetrative sex with a Pakistani model whose name was Veena Malik. The male porn star whose screen name is Melwin,  has claimed in an interview to a Dutch tabloid that the model looked exactly like the one in the Reality Show on Colors – Bigg Boss, Season 4. As Veena Malik is still inside the Bigg Boss house, we have to wait till she gets out for her comments. He has gone on record to say that the Pakistani model was very co-operative and wanted the video to be out in a few months. Maybe if it was the real Mc Coy, then Veena Malik was hoping that the video would be her ticket to fame and scandal, which would help her float easily through Bigg Boss without being eliminated or evicted.

All this information is unreliable and we leave it at that – gossip and hearsay. We have no way of authenticating all this information. We can’t go up to Veena Malik and ask her if she ever acted in any porn movies. Can we?

We bring you a collection of Veena Malik nude photographs which have been published elsewhere in the past. Kindly note, we take no responsibility for these photographs and neither do we vouch for their authenticity and credibility or legitimacy. For all that you know these photos could be morphed or digitally altered and we are not responsible for the same. We do not claim that these photos are necessarily those of Veena Malik. We are merely reproducing what has been in circulation for a very long time for the benefit of our readers.
