No nudity for Sunny Leone in India

Though father and daughter duo Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt would love to have Sunny Leone shed her clothes for the opening scene of their forthcoming sequel to the 2003 hit erotic thriller Jism, Sunny Leone privately expressed her displeasure to a few close aides.

The 2003 film starred John and Bipasha, but this time with much fanfare Mahesh Bhatt walked into the Bigg Boss house to “offer” Sunny Leone the role.  The adult porn star though in her heart of hearts is not impressed. Said a source close to Sunny Leone on condition of anonymity, “Privately, Sunny is not very happy with the role. She has had enough of nudity to last not just one lifetime but several lifetimes. Her life in Canada and the US is different. In India, Sunny would like to shed her nude adult porn star image and do main line Bollywood cinema. Sunny wants to try her hand at Hindi movies not nudity and flesh show. She has had enough of all that. Bollywood films has always been Sunny’s dream as a kid growing up in Canada. She always wanted to be some sort of a Madhuri Dixit in Bollywood, but fate took her elsewhere. Now given a chance, she would like to make her dream come true,” a close aide of Sunny Leone told Flynn Remedios, editor of MumbaiWire.in.

Even Sunny Leone was quoted to an Indian friend saying, “If I want to do nude and stuff, there is enough scope for me in Hollywood. As such the Indian Censor Board will not allow any nudity.” Given Indian laws on nudity and obscentity and the long-drawn out judicial and legal system in India, Sunny Leone’s international managers and advisors are skeptical of the adult actress’ foray into Indian cinema. They are worried about her having to spend her time doing the rounds of Indian court rooms instead of studios. An associate of Sunny Leone’s US agent who spoke to Flynn Remedios, said, “It’s nice that Indian producers are offering Sunny Bollywood films, but we hope she is not offered only nude roles. The legal system in India is very tiring and we are worried about Sunny having to make trips to Indian courts, should her images in an Indian film offend the sensibilities of a certain segment of Indian viewers.”

Sunny Leone is a known name in Hollywood and has contracts with some of the top adult entertainment TV channels and adult home video brands. The money that porn stars make abroad is something she will not get in India even for a main lead in a Bollywood film, keeping in mind the time she will have to spend on shooting and promotions.  The reception that an adult porn star would get from the general Indian public is also playing on Sunny’s mind. Right now she is safely esconsed in a 5-star hotel with a lot of security. But shooting outside is an all-together different story. Sunny’s managers are also worried about the moral police in India. “There is a different India that doesn’t ‘like’ Sunny Leone and will try to make trouble for us. We are taking all this into consideration before saying yes or no,” Sunny’s aide said.

Friends of Sunny Leone also opined that the Bhatt’s were casting Sunny only for the ‘automatic and free’ publicity that the project would get due to a high-profile and controversial international actor. A canandian friend who has worked with Sunny felt that “Mahesh Bhatt has offered Sunny Leone the role not because he is particularly thrilled with her acting abilities or because he genuinely wants to give her a foothold in Bollywood. He is doing it only to promote his film for free.”

We tried to contact Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt for their comments but their office phone numbers didn’t seem to work.

Umair Zafar launches bridal wear at Indian Princess pagaent in Mumbai

Fashion designer and stylist Umair Zafar has launched bridal wear for brides of all communities. Showcasing his collection at the Indian Princess pagaent at Tulip Star in Mumbai will be bridal wear for Hindu and Muslim brides. The Hindu bride will wear a pink Lehnga specially made in Rajasthan for the occasion while the Muslim bride will be adorned in a Garara which is the traditional wedding outfit in a Muslim wedding ceremony. Both the outfits have been specially made by expert craftsmen and feature intricate designs and worksmanship. Says Umair Zafar, “The theme of my show today is bridal wardrobe. My collection is very simple, wearable and appeals  to the masses. My outfits are made for the common woman who is proud of her curves and shape and need not have a model-like figure to carry off my dresses. My collection is for the common women, with an emphasis on colour, embellishment and cuts and can be worn by and Indian body type.

The colours  used  are haldi yellow,maroon, greenish blue, voilet  and all natural fabrics including brocade, georgette, silk , velvet etc  will be part of Umair Zafar’s bridal wardrobe collection.

Mumbai-based fashion designer Umair Zafar who spilled the beans on the Veena Malik nude shoot for FHM magazine and exposed the truth behind the façade of legal notices says that Veena Malik wanted publicity at all costs. In an interview to Flynn Remedios of www.mumbaiwire.in, Umair says, “Veena Malik had pre-planned this entire publicity stunt months in advance. Probably the bosses at Imagine channel who offered her the Reality Show Veena Malik ka Swayamvar were the main brains behind this publicity stunt and all Vishal Saxena, Kabeer Sharma, editor of FHM magazine and the magazine management were all pawns in this master plan of the schemer that is Veena Malik. Veena Malik had approached Vishal Saxena about two months prior with the idea of doing a controversial shoot that could get her loads of free publicity. Vishal who is a good friend of Kabeer Sharma and has shot for the magazine before briefed Kabeer and both of them fell for Veena Malik’s bait.”

Vishal Saxena who spoke to editor of www.mumbaiwire.in Flynn Remedios said, “I am a professional photographer. I just do what I am told. I am not aware of the discussions or agreement or understanding between FHM and Kabeer and Veena. I was given reference images and I just did my job. If not me, some other photographer would have done it. I do not wish to comment on any other issue.  Please talk to FHM magazine only for any details and please do not drag me into this controversy. I have nothing to do with it.”

Veena Malik was not available for comment and her manager or agent Pratik did not return our calls or reply to our SMS messages. Meanwhile Umair Zafar fired another salvo today when he alleged that Imagine channel is equally responsible for the nude shoot. They made the official announcement two days after the controversy started. They are all hand in glove and the entire controversy is nothing but a publicity stunt.” Taking a dig at Mahesh Bhatt, Umair said, “Wonder what Mr Mahesh Bhatt has to say now in Veena Malik’s defense? Does Mahesh Bhatt approve of such ‘nude’ publicity stunts? Does exchange of culture, etc mean a Pakistani starlet coming to India and doing nude shoots?  Is that Mr Mahesh Bhatt and Mr Raza Murad’s (of CINTAA) definition of cultural exchange,” Umair Zafar asked angrily? After fashion designer Umair Zafar spilled the beans on the truth behind the Veena Malik nude photo shoot controversy, (read our previous article) social activist and veteran actress Poonam Dasgupta who has done over 150 films, slammed Veena Malik saying, “Veena Malik is a chronic liar. She would do anything for publicity. Last year Rahul Bhatt who was a co-participant with Veena Malik on Bigg Boss had accused her saying Veena Malik can even sleep around for publicity. After reading Umair Zafar’s expose, I am sure Rahul Bhatt’s allegations are true. I am surprised that Mahesh Bhatt is taking sides with Veena Malik. Her behavior is nothing but that of a road-side sex worker or even worse,” opined Poonam Dasgupta.

Meanwhile the Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF) have renewed its call for a ban on Veena Malik in India. “We will not allow Veena Malik to act or work in India. She has come here as a guest. She should know how to behave as a guest. She must respect the traditions and cultural sensitivity of millions of Indians, even though she cares a damn about the culture of her own country. Neither India nor Pakistan would like to see one of their citizens going nude only for publicity or pre-planning the kind of controversy that Veena Malik has done in cahoots with the magazine FHM,” said Flynn Remedios, spokesperson for the IAAF.

Finally the cat is out of the bag on the Veena Malik nude photo controversy. Mumbai-based fashion designer and stylist Umair Zafar who has done several shoots with controversial photographer Vishal Saxena spilled the beans on the Veena Malik-FHM cover shoot controversy to journalist Flynn Remedios of MumbaiWire.in today.

Says Umair Zafar, “A few days before the FHM cover was out, photographer Vishal Saxena told me to be prepared for a big ‘dhamaka”. According to Umair Zafar, Saxena told him that the entire thing between Veena Malik and FHM magazine was pre-planned. “Veena Malik did the shoot topless with her hands covering the upper part of her body. She was wearing a bikini panty below, which was later on morphed and removed by photographer Vishal Saxena. All this was pre-decided and agreed upon by all concerned. In order to save face and the repurcussions that it could have both in Pakistan and in India – and yet avail of all the publicity – Veena Malik and FHM magazine had pre-decided that Veena Malik would send a defamation notice to the magazine and the magazine in turn would then send her a counter-notice. Yeah sab mili bhagat hein,” said Umair Zafar, adding that the entire episode had been meticulously planned by Veena Malik, her manager, photographer Vishal Saxena and FHM magazine representatives. “Even the defamation notice was prepared in advance, he said.

“I have done many shoots with Vishal Saxena and have styled clothes for Sayali Bhagat, Nisha Kothari, etc. Vishal specialises in nude shoots and has done several such shoots with Sherlyn Chopra, Priya Soni, etc., the photos of which are freely available on the internet. Vishal, Veena and FHM magazine have planned this entire publicity stunt to further Veena Malik’s prospects on the Reality Show on Imagine channel, Veena Malik ka Swayamvar,” said Umair, explaining that even top bosses at Imagine channel were aware of this entire publicity stunt.

Speaking to Flynn Remedios, Umair Zafar said that photographer Vishal Saxena had told him on Facebook chat that Veena Malik was even ready to shoot completely in the buff if it got her the required publicity. “Vishal told me, she wanted a big blast. A huge dhamaka that would catapult her to the top of the charts and make her a household name in India. She wants to be more popular than Kareena Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan put together. Bigg Boss last year gave her some mileage but she was not able to get much out of that show. She wanted the big bucks and was ever ready to do anything for it,” Umair said.

Photographer Vishal Saxena when contacted said that he only did as he was told by the editor of the magazine FHM. ‘I do not know anything about this matter or publicity stunt. I was told to do a shoot and was given reference photos for the same. All that I can say is that Veena Malik was very happy with the photos. I handed over the raw images (unedited images) to them immediately after the shoot was over. I can’t speak for the magazine. Please talk to Kabeer Sharma about all this. I cannot comment on anything,” was Vishal Saxena’s response. Editor of FHM, Kabeer Sharma was not reachable, inspite several attempts to contact him.

IAAF, Poonam Dasgupta file police complaint against ‘nude Veena Malik’

 

Mumbai: Saturday 3^rd December 2011: The Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF) and veteran actress Poonam Dasgupta have filed a police complaint with the Commissioner of Police, DCP Enforcement and Social Service Branch of the Crime Branch of the Mumbai police today (Saturday) against Veena Malik for her nude photo shoot on the cover of FHM magazine. Spokesperson for the IAAF, Flynn Remedios, said that a written complaint was submitted to the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, the Social Service Branch and the Home Ministry on Saturday. The police have been requested to register an FIR under the relevant sections of the law against Veena Malik and others. The IAAF has asked the Foreigners Registration Office of the Mumbai police to verify the nature of visa granted to Veena Malik and as to who are the sponsors of the Visa. According to the IAAF, Veena Malik has only a Business Visa which permits her to attend meetings, conferences, seminars and auditions but not to work and earn an income in India.

A foreigner has to have a Indian sponsor who has to guarantee and take responsibility of the foreigner to ensure that s/he does not violate any Indian laws. “Does Veena Malik have a Visa that allows her to work with every single Indian enterprise?” Normally work visas restrict the right of the individual who can only work for and through his or her sponsor who has taken the onus of ensuring compliance of Indian laws. The IAAF have requested the Mumbai Police and the Home Ministry to rescind the police permission or approval given to Veena Malik and cancel her visa.

International men’s magazine FHM’s Indian edition website has been shut down or suspended. The website was in the news for putting up a copy of their December issue of the magazine featuring a nude Veena Malik. We tried contacting the editorial staff of FHM India but none were available for comment and the editorial offices had shut for the day.
